How long it takes: most garden decks take around a week. Bigger or raised builds usually take two to four weeks, and Ellis gives you a clear timeline before you book.
A composite decking subframe built to outlast the boards.
Trex boards are guaranteed for up to 50 years. Ellis builds the frame underneath to last just as long. It's the part you'll never see, so it's the part he never rushes.
Ellis clears and levels the ground, sorts drainage so water has somewhere to go, and lays a weed membrane so nothing grows up through your deck.

Every post sits on a solid footing, set to the right levels, so the deck stays flat and true for decades, even on soft or sloping ground.

How much does composite decking cost to install?
It depends on the size, the height off the ground, the ground conditions and access, which Trex range you choose and any extras like railings or lighting. How long does a composite deck take to install?
Most small and medium garden decks take around a week. Larger or more complex builds, like raised decks on a slope or decks with lots of extras, usually take two to four weeks depending on access and scope. Ellis gives you a clear timeline before you book.
Do I need planning permission for composite decking?
Most garden decks don't need it. In both Wales and England, a deck that sits more than 30cm above the ground usually does, and listed buildings or conservation areas can have extra rules. Ellis flags it at the design stage if your deck might need permission, so there are no surprises.
Can you build composite decking on a sloped garden?
Yes, and it's where a well built subframe matters most. Ellis works out the levels, steps and supports first. He can also produce a detailed 3D design render as an optional extra, so you can see exactly how the deck will sit before work starts.
Can composite decking go over an existing patio or concrete?
Often, yes. If the base is sound and water can drain away, a low-profile subframe can go straight over it, which can save on groundwork. Ellis checks the levels and drainage on the site visit and tells you honestly if it's a good idea for your garden.
Is Trex composite decking slippery when wet?
Trex boards are designed with slip resistance in mind and grip better than weathered timber. Like any outdoor surface they can get slippery if moss or algae builds up, so a quick clean now and then keeps them safe, especially in shady, damp spots.
Does Trex decking get hot in the sun?
Darker boards get warmer in full sun, like any surface. Lighter colours stay cooler, and Trex's heat-mitigating colours, like the Transcend Lineage range, are made to stay cooler underfoot. If you've got kids or dogs, Ellis will point you to the right colour.
How do I look after a Trex deck?
No sanding, staining or painting, ever. A wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush a couple of times a year keeps it looking new. The composite decking cleaning guide has the full routine.
What warranty comes with Trex decking?
